- 1980: Jonathan Hunter is adopted into the family of Christ.
- 1984: Jonathan attends Desert Stream Ministries’ Living Waters program. His first visit to person with AIDS occurs. Intercessors group at Santa Monica Vineyard Christian Fellowship starts to pray for PWAs (persons w/AIDS).
- 1985: Jonathan finds out he is HIV+; later that year invited to become staff member of Desert Stream as head of AIDS outreach.
- 1986: Outreach officially becomes AIDS Resource Ministry (ARM) with focus on client visitation.
- 1987: ARM’s first volunteer “Basic Training” is held.
- 1988: Support group for persons with AIDS is formed: God for Antibody Positives (GAP). From this nucleus originates the teachings for the future Embracing Life Series guidebook.
- 1990: The Christian AIDS Services Alliance (CASA) is formed with Jonathan as president.
- 1993: ARM begins ministering to children and families affected by AIDS through the help of Children’s Hospital LA.
- 1994: ARM holds first quarterly healing service, the “Ingathering”.
- 1996: Healing Presence CD released –project produced by Andrea Hunter and inspired by GAP group participants.
- 1997: AIDS Resource Ministry (ARM) changes its name to Embracing Life Ministries and expands its outreach to include other life-altering conditions.
- 1998: The Embracing Life Series guidebook is published by Desert Stream Press. First Embracing Life Leaders Training is held at the Anaheim Vineyard Christian Fellowship.
- 2001: First overseas Embracing Life Leadership Training held in Auckland, New Zealand with Glenys Brookbanks
- 2002: Jonathan writes the booklet Breaking Free…from the spirit of death; various foreign translations follow.
- 2005: After 20 years as an outreach of Desert Streams Ministries, Embracing Life transitions into its own, independent non-profit ministry based in Pasadena, CA.
- 2006: The Embracing Life Series is revised with a new publisher and the More Life!study guide is written by Jonathan to be used in conjunction with the Breaking Free…booklet.
- 2007: Debbie & Neil Driscoll become National Directors of Embracing Life Ministries.
